Dr. Laura Matsen Ko is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon based in Seattle, Washington, with specialized expertise in hip and knee arthritic disorders. She is deeply committed to providing highly personalized care to every patient, treating them with the same attention and compassion she would want for her own family. Dr. Matsen Ko has completed advanced fellowship training in total hip and knee replacement, revision surgeries, and fracture care, staying at the forefront of the latest treatment options and surgical techniques. Her goal is to help her patients return to the activities they enjoy, be it hiking, golfing, cycling, skiing, playing pickleball & tennis, or just walking without pain.
When she’s not in the operating room, Dr. Matsen Ko is likely with her family or out in the mountains. A passionate outdoorswoman, she has summited Mount Rainier 7 times, including two ski descents and two single-day summit climbs. She’s also known for her fastest-known times (FKT) efforts on challenging mountain routes, earning her recognition as a sponsored mountain athlete. Whether it is running, cycling, mountain climbing, or backcountry skiing, Dr. Matsen Ko brings the same dedication to caring for each of her patients as she does to her outdoor pursuits in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Her unique blend of medical expertise, compassion and athleticism allows her to approach each patient with an in depth understanding of their body’s capabilities and limitations, giving them the best opportunity to “get back in the game”.
